Individual Therapy Sessions

Individual therapy sessions (also known as psychotherapy) address a variety of different emotional and mental health issues and are tailor made to suit the needs of the individual. All sessions are via telehealth.

I have more than 27 years of experience with helping both children and adults as well as adolescents make improvements in their life and mental wellbeing.

My Approach To Individual Therapy Sessions

In my individual therapy sessions, I utilize various modalities which include cognitive behavioral therapy and acceptance and commitment therapy techniques to help my patients manage their thoughts and feelings, and subsequently enhance coping strategies and improve relationships.

I believe in fostering a positive relationship with my patients so that they feel comfortable enough to communicate with me openly and have faith in the therapy process. I also believe in communicating directly with my patients and in giving them realistic expectations. I find that this relationship of mutual trust and open communication between patient and therapist is how I successfully help people to improve their lives.

What Can I Expect From A Therapy Session?

Each therapy session is unique and dependent upon the health condition of the patient and where they are in their journey.

During your first session, I would generally provide a guide to therapy expectations and explain the process. Then we would work on goal setting together.

I then make recommendations based on my initial assessment, and amend as necessary. I am a direct communicator, and I think that it is important to set realistic expectations to explain what therapy can and cannot do. I also provide realistic time frames to my patients and those time frames are dependent on the condition or diagnosis that the patient is seeking treatment for.
